Mike Maran embarked on a career as a rock star in the 1970s opening shows for Uriah Heep, The Electric Light Orchestra, Wizzard, Medicine Head, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and Steeleye Span. He released three solo albums.
Today, his feet are planted firmly in the theatre to which he brings a wealth of musical experience. His productions of Private Angelo and Captain Corelli's Mandolin have attracted widespread critical acclaim and huge audiences. Corelli has sold out almost every theatre in which it has been performed. Did You Used to be R.D.Laing? won a Herald Angel in 2000 and Mahler: Song & Dance Man won another in 2003 for its outstanding contribution to the Edinburgh Festival.
